Can AI-generated music actually be detected?

Can AI-generated music be detected?

A model can assess whether a recording resembles examples associated with generated music. That remains an inference from the final audio, not an observation of how it was made. Use the category and supporting fields to guide review, then seek provenance for consequential decisions.

How detection works

Is there a free tool to check if a song is AI generated?

Yes. AI Music Detector provides the full result without payment, registration or an email gate. There is no premium classification tier. Use is limited to 12 analyses per rolling 24 hours, and the audio is not stored by this site.

Run an analysis

What does an AI music detector actually measure?

Detection systems evaluate patterns in audio, but the provider used here does not disclose its internal features or weights to this site. The product can therefore explain the fields it receives, not claim that a particular spectrum, dynamic or stereo metric caused the outcome.

How detection works

Do AI music detectors upload my file?

Practices vary. This tool sends the complete recording over HTTPS to its server and classification provider; it does not classify locally. The site saves no audio copy, although the numeric response can remain in a file-hash cache for up to 14 days. Provider-side handling follows that provider's terms.

Transparency report

How accurate is AI music detection?

How accurate are AI music detectors?

Performance depends on the evaluation set and the conditions under which each file is tested. This site has not completed a controlled evaluation of its current provider, so it publishes no accuracy rate. The benchmark page shows the protocol and leaves unmeasured fields empty.

The benchmark protocol

Should I trust a detector that claims 99% accuracy?

Treat the number as incomplete unless the publisher identifies the dataset, model version, class balance, abstentions and error rates for both generated and human material. A headline percentage cannot show where a system fails or whether the test resembles your file.

How to evaluate an accuracy claim

Why did a detector say my own song is AI generated?

An incorrect classification can occur because audio characteristics overlap across production methods. The report cannot diagnose its own mistake. Keep the original export, drafts and session files; those records document your process more directly than an automated reading does.

What your result means

Does MP3 compression affect AI detection?

Yes. Lossy encoding changes the signal, and repeated conversion can compound that change. A WAV made from an MP3 does not restore discarded information, so submit the earliest lawful source available. Historical compression experiments on this site did not evaluate the current public provider's accuracy.

Compression study

Do detectors flag electronic music as AI?

They can. Synthesis, precise timing and intensive processing are not exclusive to generated music, so electronic production may overlap with patterns a classifier has learned. This site has no measured genre-specific error rate for the current provider; provenance should carry more weight.

Accuracy and limitations

What does "inconclusive" mean in a result?

It means no supported primary category was available for display. The application does not use the other fields to manufacture a yes-or-no answer. The file may still be valid; the report simply cannot settle the classification.

Reading a result

What is the difference between probability and confidence?

The component percentages show which way the vocal and instrumental assessments point. Confidence, displayed as Low, Medium or High, indicates how strongly the provider supports those readings. The fields answer different questions and are not combined into a site-calculated probability.

Suno, Udio and other generators

Can a detector tell which generator made a track?

This detector cannot. Its report has no Suno, Udio or other platform category. Reliable attribution would be a separate task requiring current, labelled examples from specific products and versions; broad AI classification is not a substitute for that work.

Generator reference

How do I tell if a song was made with Suno?

Ask for direct records such as the creator's disclosure, generation history and original exports. Metadata may add context but can be removed or changed. This report can assess the recording broadly; it cannot verify Suno as the source.

AI generator guides

Which generators are hardest to detect?

No ranking is available here because the current provider has not been evaluated by this site against named generator versions. Any useful comparison would need repeatable test sets and would become dated as products changed.

Engine changelog

Are hybrid human/AI tracks detectable?

A hybrid track can receive a category, but that category does not map its human and generated contributions. The finished mix may contain both. Contributor records, sessions and disclosures are the appropriate evidence for describing the workflow.

Accuracy and limitations

Can AI-generated vocals be detected?

The report includes a provider-supplied vocal indicator for music. This site does not extract the vocal, recognise a performer or test for a particular cloned voice. Identity and consent questions require source material and direct documentation.

Platforms, policies and consequences

Does Spotify detect AI music?

Spotify has not made a specific detection method public. Its published enforcement focuses on issues such as impersonation, artificial streaming and spam rather than a blanket ban on AI assistance. Creators and distributors should follow the current written policy instead of assuming an undisclosed detector will resolve compliance.

Platform policy guides

Does YouTube require AI disclosure?

YouTube's disclosure rules cover realistic synthetic or meaningfully altered media, with additional concerns around identifiable voices and likenesses. Whether a particular upload needs a label depends on the content and current policy, not merely on the use of software during production.

Platform policy guides

Will a distributor reject AI music?

Policies differ, but common concerns include impersonation, unauthorised voice cloning, misleading metadata and mass-upload abuse. Keep records of contributors, source material and generation steps, then check the distributor's current terms for the release in question.

Platform policy guides

Is an AI detection result legal evidence?

Not by itself. The report is an automated assessment and does not establish authorship, ownership or misconduct. Formal decisions should rely on appropriate records and qualified review, not a single classification result.

Disclaimer

How should a journalist verify an AI music claim?

Preserve the exact file and document which service produced the result and when. Then seek direct evidence: creator interviews, project sessions, drafts, contributor records and original exports. Report the classification as one unverified technical observation, including that this site's current accuracy has not been measured.

The benchmark protocol

Using this tool

What file formats and lengths work best?

You can submit MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, M4A, MP4, OGG or OPUS, up to 25 MB and from 5 seconds to 15 minutes long. Prefer the earliest authorised export. Meeting those limits makes a file eligible; it does not guarantee a particular outcome or confidence.

How to use it

Can I check a Spotify or YouTube link?

No. The tool accepts files rather than streaming links and does not download media for you. Submit the closest lawful source to the original export; audio captured or converted from a stream may differ substantially from the released master.

How to use it

Is there an API for AI music detection?

The companion mobile client uses an analysis endpoint, but no general developer service or public service agreement is offered. Benchmark facts are separately available as reusable JSON under CC BY 4.0. Contact us before planning an integration.

Contact

Why do two detectors disagree about the same song?

Services may differ in their examples, labels, calibration and model versions. As a result, identical audio can produce incompatible reports. Do not average unlike outputs; document each method and return to direct evidence about the production process.
