Stereo Width Is a Mix Diagnostic, Not an AI Test

Wide, narrow or strange stereo does not identify AI.

Width is production, not provenance

Panning, chorus, delays, mid-side processing and stereo synthesis can create almost any image. Generated and recorded material pass through the same tools after creation.

What stereo analysis can diagnose

Inter-channel correlation and mono checks can reveal cancellation, polarity problems, unstable bass or an overextended image. These findings help a mix translate between playback systems.

Keep the claim narrow

A stereo anomaly may explain a listening problem or contribute context to a classification. It cannot name a generator or prove a production history.

The short version

Stereo meters diagnose channel relationships. They do not authenticate a recording.
